Hyderabad, May 9: Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam has received formal approval from the Governor to form the government in Tamil Nadu.
Party chief Vijay is set to take oath as the new Chief Minister on Saturday at 3 pm.
The development comes after TVK staked claim to form the government following support from allied parties and independent legislators.
Sources said the Governor accepted the party’s claim after reviewing letters of support submitted by TVK leaders.

Preparations are underway in Chennai for the swearing in ceremony, which is expected to witness the presence of political leaders, film personalities and party supporters.
TVK emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections but initially fell short of the majority mark.
The party later secured support from other parties to strengthen its numbers in the Assembly.
Vijay’s elevation as Chief Minister marks a major political shift in Tamil Nadu politics and signals the rise of a new regional force in the state.
Security arrangements have also been tightened in and around the venue ahead of the oath taking ceremony.
