Police recently booked Bhagirath under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act after allegations surfaced in the Pet Basheerabad police station limits. According to police sources, the case relates to a complaint filed by a minor girl alleging inappropriate behaviour.

The case has triggered wide political and public discussion across Telangana. Moreover, leaders from different political parties have reacted cautiously as the investigation continues.

High Court to Hear Bail Plea on Thursday

Bhagirath filed an urgent petition before the Telangana High Court after apprehending arrest in the case. In his plea, he reportedly stated that the allegations against him are false and politically motivated. He also requested the court to grant interim protection from arrest until the completion of the hearing.

The Telangana High Court responded to the petition and agreed to take up detailed arguments on Thursday. The court is expected to hear submissions from both Bhagirath’s counsel and the police before passing further orders.

Meanwhile, investigators are continuing their inquiry into the allegations.

Police officials have not yet disclosed detailed findings from the investigation. However, officials confirmed that the case was registered under relevant sections of the POCSO Act based on the complaint received.

The matter has drawn significant attention because of Bhagirath’s political background. Legal experts say anticipatory bail petitions in POCSO cases are examined carefully due to the seriousness of the allegations. At the same time, courts also consider the arguments presented by both the accused and the prosecution before issuing directions.

The High Court’s decision on the interim relief plea is now being closely watched in political and legal circles across the state.
