Bandi Bhagirath bail plea | Hyderabad, May 14: The anticipatory bail petition filed by Bandi Sai Bhagirath in the POCSO case registered against him will come up for hearing before the Telangana High Court vacation bench on Thursday.
Bhagirath’s counsel, Naveen Kumar, filed the petition on Tuesday before the First Vacation Court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with the case registered at Petbasheerabad Police Station.
Since the High Court is currently on vacation, the matter has been listed before the vacation bench.
According to court sources, the petition has been placed as the 28th case in Thursday’s hearing list and is likely to be taken up in the afternoon session.
Bandi Bhagirathindt bail plea | Focus On Police Non Appearance
The case has attracted significant political and legal attention after Bhagirath allegedly failed to appear before police for questioning despite notices issued by investigators.
Police had directed him to appear for inquiry in connection with the POCSO case. However, he did not attend the investigation proceedings within the stipulated time, whereas Bandi Sai Bhagirath request the time to appear.
Investigators are also examining allegations that Bhagirath remained unavailable for questioning after notices were served.
Legal experts stated that the issue of non cooperation with the investigation could become an important factor during the anticipatory bail hearing.
Some legal observers noted that courts generally examine the seriousness of allegations, the conduct of the accused and cooperation with investigators before considering anticipatory bail pleas in cases registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
POCSO Charges Intensify Case
Police earlier revised sections in the FIR after recording the victim’s statement.
The case currently includes serious provisions under the POCSO Act related to aggravated sexual assault.
Investigators have already added sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and relevant POCSO provisions as part of the ongoing probe.
The hearing has now generated political and public interest, particularly because Bhagirath is the son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
Legal circles believe the outcome of Thursday’s hearing could significantly influence the next phase of the investigation.
If anticipatory bail is denied, police may intensify efforts to secure Bhagirath’s appearance for questioning as part of the ongoing probe.
