Hyderabad, May 18: Sabitha Indra Reddy demanded immediate grain procurement and accused the state government of neglecting farmers in Telangana.
She visited a grain procurement centre at Tunkimetla in Bomraspet mandal of Vikarabad district on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters, Sabitha Indra Reddy said farmers were facing severe difficulties due to delays in grain procurement.
She alleged that the government had failed to handle procurement operations effectively and claimed that farmers were suffering after heavy rains damaged stored grain.
The former minister said grain stocks had become wet because procurement was not taken up on time.
She also criticised the state government and said the condition of farmers in the Chief Minister’s own constituency reflected the larger situation across Telangana.
Sabitha Indra Reddy warned that protests would be launched if the government failed to begin procurement immediately.
Patnam Naveen Kumar Reddy and Patnam Narender Reddy were also present during the visit.
