Suryapet/Hyderabad, May 18 (Maxim News): A shocking murder over a property dispute created panic in Suryapet district after a woman was allegedly hacked to death by her own brother on Sunday morning.
The incident took place in Atmakur S mandal of the district.
According to preliminary information, the deceased woman, identified as Surugi Anjamma, had been living in her native village after the death of her husband. She reportedly had no children and was staying with her younger sister.
Family sources said Anjamma had decided to transfer her two acres of land to her sister, who had been taking care of her.
Police said the decision triggered a dispute between Anjamma and her brother, who allegedly became angry after learning that the property would not be given to him.
Investigators suspect the accused planned the murder believing he would inherit the land if his sister died.
Reports said Anjamma was on her way to work under a drought relief programme around 6:45 am when the accused allegedly attacked her from behind with a sharp weapon.
The attacker reportedly stabbed her multiple times indiscriminately, causing severe injuries. Anjamma died on the spot due to excessive bleeding.
After receiving information, police rushed to the scene and launched an investigation into the murder.
Officials are collecting evidence and recording statements from family members and local residents.
