Hyderabad, May 18: Osmania University issued an official statement on Monday confirming that no examinations are scheduled for May 27 in observance of Bakrid. The press note, released by the Registrar, responds to growing public queries and political representations regarding the festival timetable.
University authorities clarified that their academic schedule strictly aligns with the public holidays declared by the Government of Telangana. This update follows a recent demand by AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi to ensure no assessments clash with the major religious occasion.
The university administration emphasized its commitment to preventing academic disruptions during significant cultural celebrations. Officials have put contingency measures in place to handle any shifts in the festive calendar. Since the festival depends heavily on regional lunar observations, the institution remains prepared to implement swift structural alterations to its timeline if required.
Registrar issues moon sighting contingency directive
The notification states that if the official date for Eid-ul-Adha changes based on local moon sightings, the university schedule will be modified accordingly. The Registrar has advised all students and affiliated colleges under the jurisdiction of the institution to monitor updates closely.
Candidates are urged to check the official university web portal regularly for subsequent notifications and revised timetables. This proactive approach aims to alleviate mental stress among undergraduate students preparing for their fourth and sixth semester finals.
