Hyderabad, Aug 11 (Maxim News): Actor and politician Prakash Raj has expressed strong displeasure after officials removed his name from the Bengaluru electoral roll during the Special Intensive Revision process.
Prakash Raj said his name was among those deleted from the revised voter list in Bengaluru. He questioned the decision and said he was born and raised in the city.
He also said he completed his education and began his theatre journey in Bengaluru. He had previously contested the Lok Sabha election from Bengaluru Central.
The actor reacted to the deletion through a post on X. He claimed that nearly 65 lakh names had been removed from the Bengaluru electoral rolls during the revision.
His reaction comes amid earlier allegations that multiple voter registrations were linked to his name. The Election Commission has not been cited in the supplied material as giving a specific reason for deleting his individual entry.
Prakash Raj questioned whether removing voter names could prevent people from challenging those in power. He also directed a political jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue.
Prakash Raj backs Jharkhand student protests
Prakash Raj also criticised police action against JPSC and JSSC job aspirants protesting near the Jharkhand Assembly in Ranchi.
He shared a video from the protest site and condemned the use of force against the demonstrators. He described the reported police action as unacceptable and warned that such conduct could deepen public anger.
The protesters had gathered under the JPSC JSSC Reform Manch. They formed a human chain and sought to march towards the Assembly during the Monsoon Session.
Police reportedly used water cannons and lathis to stop the protesters. Reports also said that tear gas was used during the confrontation.
The students have raised allegations over irregularities in the JSSC CGL recruitment examination. They are seeking a CBI investigation into the alleged irregularities.
They have also demanded reforms and greater transparency in the recruitment process. The agitation has continued as students seek action from the Jharkhand government.
Prakash Raj’s comments link two separate issues involving electoral rights and recruitment protests. In both cases, he has called for greater accountability and transparency.
