Hyderabad, May 18 (Maxim News): The Commissioner’s Task Force, Shamshabad Zone Team, along with Pahadishareef Police, apprehended a dairy farm operator for illegally procuring and selling restricted Oxytocin injections to dairy farmers in and around Hyderabad.
Police seized 173 Oxytocin injection bottles containing 43.250 litres in total, with each bottle measuring 250 ml. The seized stock is valued at around Rs 50,000.
The arrested accused was identified as Attheni Krishna, 45, a resident of Mankhal village in Rangareddy district. He runs a dairy farm and a cattle feed shop named “Srikrishna Cattle Feed” at Tukkuguda.
Two other accused, identified as Khaled Ali alias Chatru Singh and Suresh of Tukkuguda, are absconding. Police teams are continuing efforts to trace and arrest them.
According to investigators, Krishna established the dairy farm nearly 15 years ago to earn his livelihood. Around five to six years ago, he allegedly came in contact with Khaled Ali, who reportedly supplied restricted Oxytocin injections at low prices.
Police said Krishna purchased each bottle for around Rs 50 and illegally sold them to dairy farmers for Rs 250 to Rs 300 per bottle to earn easy money.
Gujarat Link Suspected In Illegal Supply Network
Investigators revealed that absconding accused Khaled Ali alias Chatru Singh allegedly procured bulk quantities of restricted Oxytocin injections from Gujarat and distributed them to illegal buyers across Hyderabad and nearby areas.
The third accused, Suresh of Tukkuguda, was identified as a regular customer who allegedly used the injections on buffaloes at his dairy farm to increase milk production.
Acting on a tip off, the Shamshabad Zone Task Force apprehended Krishna and recovered the injections from his possession. He was later handed over to Pahadishareef Police Station for further legal action.
Police officials warned that illegal use of Oxytocin injections on animals can lead to reproductive disorders, reduced fertility, uterine stress, mastitis and long term dependence on injections for milk release.
Officials also cautioned that consumption of milk contaminated with Oxytocin residue can cause serious health complications in humans. These include hormonal imbalance, early puberty in children, reproductive issues, stomach cramps, blurred vision and cardiovascular complications. Pregnant women consuming such milk may face risks of premature labour pain or miscarriage, officials said.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Inspector K Venkat Reddy along with Task Force officers and staff of Shamshabad Zone in coordination with Pahadishareef Police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath said investigation into the illegal supply network is continuing.
