Hyderabad, May 20: A major fire broke out at the Org Chem chemical factory in Medchal on the outskirts of Hyderabad during the early hours of Wednesday, triggering panic among nearby residents.
According to officials, the fire erupted suddenly inside the factory premises and quickly spread, sending massive flames and thick black smoke into the air. The smoke engulfed surrounding areas and created fear among people living nearby.
Fire department personnel rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident. Several fire engines were deployed to control the blaze. After working intensively for more than an hour, firefighters managed to bring the fire under control and prevented it from spreading to nearby units.
No casualties or injuries were reported till the filing of this report. However, officials are assessing the extent of damage caused to the factory property and machinery.
