Hyderabad: Actor Ram Charan publicly apologised to Indian pace star Jasprit Bumrah after mistakenly referring to him as a football player during a recent public event. The actor clarified that the mix up happened unintentionally in the middle of excitement and crowd interaction.
Ram Charan issued the apology through his official X account on Sunday and said he has great respect for Bumrah and is a huge admirer of his performances for India.
The actor wrote that he is genuinely forgetful with names sometimes and described the incident as a human error. He also praised Bumrah for making every Indian proud with his outstanding bowling performances.
The apology came after a video from an event went viral on social media. During the interaction, Ram Charan was asked to describe several Indian cricketers in one line.
While speaking about Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli, the actor praised their qualities. However, while referring to Jasprit Bumrah, he mistakenly connected him with football and said he loved football and that Bumrah had taken it forward.
Ram Charan Clarifies Respect For Bumrah
Following the viral reaction online, Ram Charan quickly responded and clarified that he deeply respects the Indian fast bowler. Fans appreciated the actor for acknowledging the mistake publicly and offering an apology without delay.
Jasprit Bumrah is currently regarded as one of the finest fast bowlers in world cricket and has played a major role in India’s success across formats in recent years.
Meanwhile, Ram Charan is preparing for the release of his upcoming film Peddi. The movie features Janhvi Kapoor, Divyenndu, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Vijay Sethupathi in important roles.
The film is directed by Buchi Babu Sana and produced under the banners of Vriddhi Cinemas and Mythri Movie Makers. Jio Studios will release the film in North India.
Peddi is scheduled for worldwide premiere screenings on June 3, 2026, followed by its theatrical release on June 4, 2026.
