Hyderabad, May 24: BJP Medak MP M Raghunandan Rao announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party will launch a statewide farmers outreach programme titled “Rythu Gosa BJP Bharosa” from Monday across Telangana.
Speaking to a television channel on Sunday, Raghunandan Rao said the yatra would be conducted at paddy procurement centres across the state to highlight farmers’ issues and expose what he described as the failures of the Congress government in grain procurement.
He stated that BJP MPs, MLAs and MLCs would participate in the programme in different districts and directly interact with farmers facing difficulties at procurement centres.
BJP Targets Congress Over Paddy Procurement
Raghunandan Rao alleged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was indulging in politics over farmers’ issues instead of resolving their problems.
He questioned the government’s claims regarding paddy procurement and demanded that the Chief Minister clarify where “80 percent of the grain” had allegedly been purchased.
The BJP leader accused the Congress government of presenting misleading figures based on official reports without understanding the actual ground situation.
“If the Chief Minister visits districts directly and speaks to farmers, he will know the real condition of paddy procurement centres,” Raghunandan Rao said.
He added that BJP leaders would spend two days interacting with farmers and gathering information on procurement related problems and delays being faced across Telangana.
BJP Says Farmers’ Welfare Is Priority
Raghunandan Rao said the BJP’s primary objective was the welfare of farmers and not political gains.
He stated that the party would continue to raise farmers’ concerns regarding procurement delays, payments and implementation of welfare promises.
The BJP MP also demanded that the Congress government immediately implement promises made to food suppliers and farmers in its Assembly election manifesto.
According to him, several assurances given during the elections were yet to be fulfilled despite the Congress government being in power for months.
He said the “Rythu Gosa BJP Bharosa” yatra would strengthen direct communication between BJP leaders and farmers while creating awareness about the issues affecting the agriculture sector in Telangana.
