Hyderabad, May 25 (Maxim News): The Telangana Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday caught an Irrigation and Command Area Development Department engineer red handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 in Warangal district.
According to an official statement issued by the ACB, Ganti Srikanth, Divisional Executive Engineer, O/o Irrigation and Command Area Development Department (I&CAD), presently working as DE at Palakurthi in Warangal district, was trapped by ACB Warangal Range officials.
The accused officer allegedly demanded and accepted the bribe amount from a complainant at his residence in Bhavani Nagar, Hanamkonda.
ACB officials said the engineer allegedly sought the bribe for recording final measurements in M books and processing pending bills related to the construction of 10 double bedroom houses (2BHK) executed by the complainant.
According to the investigation, the officer had allegedly kept the bills pending since September 2022.
During the trap operation, ACB officials recovered the tainted bribe amount of Rs 50,000 from the possession of the accused officer at his instance.
The Anti Corruption Bureau stated that the officer performed his duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.
Following the successful trap, the accused officer was arrested by ACB officials.
He will be produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Warangal.
Officials confirmed that the case is currently under investigation.
The identity and details of the complainant have been withheld for security reasons.
The ACB appealed to the public to report corruption and bribery demands through its toll free helpline number 1064. Officials said complaints can also be submitted through ACB Telangana social media platforms and WhatsApp services (Maxim News) .
