The project, named ‘Busulo Bharosa’, has been introduced on a pilot basis in the Adilabad region.

As part of the first phase, nearly 175 RTC buses operating in the erstwhile Adilabad district have been equipped with surveillance systems.

Officials said cameras were installed in multiple sections of buses, including the driver’s cabin, entry points, footboards, women reserved seats and rear areas to ensure complete monitoring.

CCTV Monitoring Linked To RTC Control Rooms

According to RTC authorities, passenger activity inside buses will be recorded continuously from boarding until the completion of the journey.

The CCTV footage can be viewed by drivers and conductors and is directly connected to RTC control rooms for round the clock monitoring.

Officials believe the system will help identify suspicious persons, theft gangs and repeat offenders targeting passengers on public transport services.

The footage is also expected to assist investigators during accidents and emergency situations by providing visual evidence.

Focus On Passenger And Women Safety

RTC officials said the visible presence of surveillance cameras is expected to reduce incidents of harassment, pickpocketing and inappropriate behaviour inside buses.

Women and elderly passengers reportedly welcomed the initiative and expressed confidence that it would improve safety, especially during night travel and long distance journeys.

The project has been introduced under the leadership of Y Nagi Reddy as part of wider technology driven reforms in TGSRTC.

Officials stated that the CCTV surveillance system may soon be expanded to more RTC buses across Telangana depending on the success of the pilot project.
