Hyderabad, May 26 (Maxim News): TRS president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Telangana government over land acquisition, house demolitions and farmers’ issues, alleging that a “cruel government” was ruling the State under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Kavitha, along with Dharma Samaj Party chief Visharadan, leaders of affected villages and victims from Velugumatla, Kadlapur and Triple R project areas, met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, at Lok Bhavan and submitted multiple representations seeking justice for displaced families.
The delegation demanded that the government immediately allot house sites to all displaced families in Velugumatla village and withdraw land acquisition notices issued for the proposed industrial park in Kadlapur village of Pargi mandal.
They also sought changes in the alignment of the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR) project and raised concerns over land acquisition affecting several villages.
Governor responds positively, says Kavitha
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Kavitha said the Governor patiently heard the grievances of the affected families and responded positively.
She stated that the government agreed to provide land to displaced families in Velugumatla at the same location only because of sustained protests by victims and opposition parties.
Kavitha claimed that land acquisition activities linked to Pargi and the Triple R project had also been temporarily halted due to public resistance.
“These are only partial victories. Complete justice for the victims needs intervention from the Central government as well,” she said.
She added that the Governor assured them that reports would be sought from the State government regarding the issues raised during the meeting.
According to Kavitha, the Governor expressed surprise after learning that the Triple R alignment had allegedly been changed four times. She said the delegation also showed a letter written by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy regarding the Triple R project.
The BRS leader warned that if the affected families were not given justice, they would intensify protests through joint action programmes in the future.
Kavitha alleges women suffering due to demolitions
Kavitha strongly criticised the government over demolition drives and alleged that women were being pushed into distress after losing their homes.
She accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of making false claims about women’s welfare while demolishing houses belonging to poor families.
“A woman in Velugumatla reportedly suffered a miscarriage after authorities demolished houses in the village. The pain of the affected families is still haunting us,” she said.
She alleged that the government’s actions had destroyed the peace and security of several families across Telangana.
Targets government over paddy procurement
Kavitha also targeted the Congress government over paddy procurement and alleged that farmers across Telangana were suffering due to delays in grain purchases.
She said heaps of paddy were still lying at procurement centres and accused the government of failing to support farmers despite repeated assurances.
“If farmers do not survive, people will not even get food. The government must immediately procure the pending paddy stocks,” she demanded.
The BRS leader further criticised the Chief Minister, saying he was unable to understand the ground reality while travelling in flights to Delhi. (Maxim News)
