Commercial LPG Cylinder Price Hike Raises Business Costs

Commercial LPG Cylinder Price Hike | New Delhi, June 1: Commercial LPG cylinder prices increased again across India from June 1. The latest revision has raised costs for hotels, restaurants, catering units, and small eateries. Oil marketing companies have increased the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders across major cities.

Although the latest increase is modest, it comes after several revisions in recent months. Therefore, business owners now face additional operating expenses. However, domestic consumers have received some relief. The prices of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged.

According to the revised rates, a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in New Delhi now costs Rs 3,113.50 after a hike of Rs 42. In Kolkata, the price increased by Rs 53.50 to Rs 3,255.50. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, the cylinder price has crossed Rs 3,024.

Commercial LPG Cylinder Price Hike May Affect Food Costs

Industry experts say the commercial LPG cylinder price hike could affect thousands of businesses. Hotels, bakeries, restaurants, and roadside food outlets depend heavily on LPG for daily operations. As a result, their operating costs are likely to increase.

Moreover, analysts warn that continued fuel price hikes may push up food prices. Some businesses may revise menu rates if costs continue to rise. Consequently, consumers could also feel the impact in the coming months.

Experts attribute the increase to several global factors. Crude oil prices have remained volatile in recent months. In addition, geopolitical tensions in West Asia continue to affect energy markets. Global supply chain disruptions have also added pressure on fuel prices.

Notably, commercial LPG prices have seen repeated changes over the past year. While the number of revisions varies, the overall trend has increased concern among business owners. Small and medium enterprises are expected to feel the impact the most.

Furthermore, businesses are closely tracking international crude oil prices and future LPG revisions. They hope market conditions will stabilize soon. Until then, higher fuel costs may remain a challenge for the hospitality and food service sectors.
