Hyderabad, June 4: The Union Cabinet has approved the expansion of key national highways in Telangana, paving the way for the development of nearly 191 kilometres of roads at an estimated cost of Rs 7,597 crore.
The Cabinet cleared the proposal to upgrade the Armoor, Jagtial, and Mancherial stretch of National Highway 63 into a four lane corridor. It also approved the widening of the Jagtial to Karimnagar section of National Highway 563 to four lanes.
Under the approved plan, a total of 190.76 kilometres of national highways will be expanded across northern Telangana. The project aims to improve road connectivity, ease traffic movement, and strengthen regional transport infrastructure.
The Armoor to Jagtial to Mancherial stretch on NH 63 will be developed under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). Meanwhile, the Jagtial to Karimnagar section on NH 563 will be executed through the Build Operate Transfer Toll model.
Officials expect the project to significantly reduce travel time and improve transportation facilities in North Telangana. The upgraded highways are also expected to support industrial growth, facilitate commercial activity, and enhance connectivity between major towns in the region.
The Centre’s approval is seen as a major infrastructure boost for Telangana, particularly for districts in the northern part of the state that rely heavily on road transport for trade and economic activity.
