Hyderabad, June 13: Seven Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by Jeedimetla police for allegedly residing illegally in Hyderabad without valid travel documents.
The arrests were made during a search operation conducted in the HAL area of Gajularamaram under the Jeedimetla police station limits on Friday.
According to police, the operation was launched after receiving information that several foreign nationals were staying in a rented house in the locality.
During the raid, police detained seven individuals and verified their documents. Officials said the detainees failed to produce valid passports, visas or any other legal documents permitting them to stay in India.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the seven persons had allegedly entered India illegally and were residing in different parts of the country before arriving in Hyderabad.
Police suspect that they crossed into India without following legal immigration procedures. Further inquiries are underway to determine their travel route and local contacts.
Officials said the detained individuals are being shifted to the Foreigners Detention Centre at Jogipet in Medak district.
Authorities have initiated the necessary legal procedures for their deportation to Bangladesh.
Personnel from the Special Operations Team (SOT), Kukatpally Zone, assisted Jeedimetla police in carrying out the operation.
Police are continuing the investigation to identify whether any local network facilitated their stay or helped them obtain accommodation in Hyderabad.
