PM Modi Begins Week Long Foreign Tour To France And Slovakia

New Delhi, June 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed on Saturday for a week long visit covering France and Slovakia, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings and participate in the G7 Summit.

The Prime Minister said the visit would focus on strengthening strategic partnerships, expanding economic cooperation and addressing major regional and global issues.

During the France leg of the visit, Modi is expected to meet Emmanuel Macron to review progress made under the India France global strategic partnership framework. Discussions are also expected to cover international developments and areas of cooperation.

Modi will then travel to Slovakia in what is being described as the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country since its independence in 1993. He is scheduled to meet Peter Pellegrini and Robert Fico along with business and industry representatives.

India will also participate in the G7 Summit 2026, where Modi said the invitation for the eighth consecutive time reflects India’s growing international engagement and influence.

According to the announced schedule:

  • June 14 to 15: Bilateral engagements in Slovakia and meetings with national leadership and business representatives.
  • June 16 to 17: Participation in the G7 Summit in France and discussions on global and regional priorities.
  • June 18: Attendance at the innovation event in Paris alongside President Macron and interaction with the Indian community.

Modi said the visit will begin with the Bharat Innovates event in Nice as part of the India France Year of Innovation and highlighted the government’s focus on youth driven development and innovation.
