Washington, June 14: US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to hold bilateral discussions on June 17 during the G7 Summit in France, according to the White House. The meeting is expected to focus on economic cooperation, supply chain resilience, Artificial Intelligence, investment partnerships and global security issues.
White House officials said Trump will participate in discussions with G7 leaders and invited partners on economic growth, development, illegal immigration, supply chain stability and emerging technologies including AI.
Modi Trump meeting set on sidelines of G7 Summit
The bilateral meeting is expected to take place before a working lunch involving G7 leaders, outreach partners and technology executives. Officials indicated that trade and broader strategic cooperation are likely to feature in the discussions, although no major agreement is currently expected to be finalised during the summit.
Prime Minister Modi is attending the summit at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron as part of his Europe visit, which also includes engagements in Slovakia and France. Modi has said India will use the G7 platform to present both national priorities and the aspirations of the Global South.
According to the White House, Trump’s broader summit agenda includes meetings with leaders from the Middle East and discussions on investment, critical mineral supply chains, economic security and global geopolitical challenges.
