Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs Meet Amid Split News, Only Three Attend

Mumbai/Internet/Hyderabad, June 18 (Maxim News): Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) is facing a political crisis for the second time. The party held a parliamentary meeting on Thursday, but only three MPs from the Lok Sabha attended. This seems to have furthr strengthened the news of a split. It seems that the remaining six MPs who did not attend the meeting are almost certain to join the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.

Shiv Sena UBT has 9 MPs in the Lok Sabha. Sanjay Raut is the only one representing the party in the Rajya Sabha. Amid the news of the split, the Shiv Sena UBT parliamentary Party held a meeting in Delhi on Thursday. A whip was issued for all the party MPs to attend. However, along with Raut, only the party’s Lok Sabha MPs Arvind Sawant, Anil Desai and Rajbhau Vaje attended the meeting.

As a result, the party has issued show cause notices to the remaining six MPs who were absent. “The notices state that they should explain within a week why they did not come to the meeting. If they do not respond within that time, we will ask Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to disqualify the MPs who violated the whip,” Shiv Sena UBT MP Arvind Sawant told the media.

It is known that these six MPs have been campaigning for some time that they will leave the party. There are reports that they have all sent a letter to the Speaker’s office asking for separate seats in the Lok Sabha as they have decided to merge with Shinde Shiv Sena. However, no official announcement has been made on this. If all of them leave the party, there will be another split in the Shiv Sena. It is known that a rebellion led by Eknath Shinde in 2022 split the party into two. (Maxim News)
