Hyderabad, June 28: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls entered its third day on Saturday, but the exercise is yet to gather momentum across Hyderabad, with distribution of enumeration forms progressing slowly in several areas.
Officials and field staff reported delays in multiple Assembly constituencies as Booth Level Officers (BLOs) struggled to maintain distribution schedules.
SIR of Electoral Rolls Sees Slow Progress Across City
In the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation area, distribution of enumeration forms moved at a slow pace. Some BLOs said weekends affected field activity as many residents travel outside the city or visit their hometowns and religious destinations.
A similar situation was reported in areas under Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation.
Across several locations in Hyderabad’s 15 Assembly constituencies, BLO presence remained limited during the day. Although field activity was expected to begin at 9 am, distribution had not picked up even by midday.
Sources associated with the electoral revision process said instructions had already been issued to distribute forms across all wards. However, operational delays affected implementation.
Officials cited transportation issues as one of the major reasons for the slow rollout. In some localities, BLOs could not reach ward offices where the forms had been stored and therefore could not collect them for distribution.
As a result, electoral form distribution has not yet gained expected momentum across all 15 Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad district.
