Hyderabad, July 6 (Maxim News) The Telangana Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday caught the Tahsildar of Cheryala Mandal in Siddipet district while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 70,000 for processing NALA land conversion applications.
The officer was arrested during a trap operation and will be produced before a special ACB court in Hyderabad.
According to the ACB, Korra Dileep Naik, Tahsildar of Cheryala Mandal, was caught red-handed at around 2:40 pm on July 6 while demanding and accepting the bribe from a complainant.
ACB Trap Exposes Bribery in NALA Conversion Process
The ACB said the accused demanded Rs 70,000 to process 11 NALA conversion applications. Officials stated that eight applications had already been processed, while the remaining cases were pending.
The applications relate to Survey Nos. 833/B, 833/C, 833/D, 833/E, 834/B, 834/C, 834/D, and 834/E, covering 30 guntas of land in Nagapuri village. The applications were filed in the names of Smt. Jamuna Kanakamma and others.
During the operation, ACB officials recovered the entire tainted bribe amount of Rs 70,000 from the possession of the Tahsildar.
The bureau stated that the officer misused his official position and acted dishonestly to obtain an illegal financial benefit.
Following the successful trap, the ACB arrested the Tahsildar and initiated legal proceedings. The accused will be produced before the II Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases Court in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, officials said the investigation is continuing. The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
The ACB has appealed to the public to report any demand for bribes by government officials through its toll-free helpline 1064. Citizens can also submit complaints through the ACB’s official social media platforms. The bureau assured that the identity of complainants will remain confidential. (Maxim News)
