Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to develop eco-tourism projects on Forest Department lands within Hyderabad’s core urban limits and the proposed Bharat Future City, aiming to transform them into world-class tourism destinations.
Chairing a review meeting with Tourism Department officials on Monday, the Chief Minister instructed that forest lands be developed into eco-parks on the lines of the recently inaugurated Gurramguda Eco Park in Rangareddy district. He also called for the creation of urban forest-style eco-tourism projects within the Core Urban Region (CURE) limits and directed the appointment of special officers to fast-track implementation.
CM Pushes Tourism Infrastructure Across Telangana
Revanth Reddy asked officials to accelerate ongoing tourism development projects and enhance Hyderabad’s major attractions. He directed the Tourism and Forest Departments to work in coordination to improve eco-tourism infrastructure across the city.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to make Taramati Baradari more attractive for visitors and develop Durgam Cheruvu into a full-fledged tourist destination. He also ordered the modernisation of the historic Manjeera and Dilkhusha guest houses in Hyderabad.
Expanding the tourism roadmap beyond the capital, Revanth Reddy directed officials to develop Vikarabad as a tourism hub under the Tourism Hub Development Scheme, with special emphasis on the Sri Veerabhadraswami Temple. He also called for the formation of a temple management committee on the lines of the Yadadri temple administration.
The Chief Minister further proposed developing Hyderabad’s heritage structures, including Puranapul, into tourist attractions. He suggested preparing detailed plans and, if required, diverting traffic through alternate routes to improve visitor access.
Reviewing investment opportunities in the tourism sector, Revanth Reddy instructed officials to begin preparations for the Global Investment Summit scheduled for December. He directed the formation of high-level coordination committees involving multiple departments to ensure the successful conduct of the summit.
Senior officials, including Chief Minister’s Advisor K. Ramakrishna Rao, Special Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Tourism Department Special Principal Secretary Vani Prasad, and other officials, attended the review meeting.
