Telangana voter list revision | Hyderabad, July 8: The ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Telangana has come under criticism after thousands of voters complained that they have not yet received enumeration forms despite the Election Commission claiming high distribution figures.
Political parties and citizens have also questioned the functioning of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), alleging delays and poor monitoring.
Although 12 days have passed since the revision process began, the distribution of enumeration forms remains incomplete in several districts, particularly in the Hyderabad metropolitan region.
Telangana voter list revision | Voters Report Forms Not Received Despite Official Claims
According to official data, the Election Commission has distributed 96 percent of enumeration forms across the state. However, residents in Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Rangareddy and Sangareddy districts say they are still waiting to receive the forms.
Official figures show that 93 percent of forms have been distributed in Rangareddy, 92 percent in Sangareddy, 88 percent in Medchal Malkajgiri and 81 percent in Hyderabad. Despite these numbers, many voters claim that BLOs have neither visited their homes nor responded to phone calls.
Meanwhile, officials reported 100 percent distribution in Nirmal and Jogulamba Gadwal districts. Wanaparthy recorded 99.95 percent, Nagarkurnool 99.98 percent, Kamareddy 99.31 percent, Adilabad 99.62 percent, Khammam 99.60 percent, Karimnagar 99.18 percent, Mahabubnagar 99.14 percent, Mancherial 99.19 percent, Rajanna Sircilla 99.76 percent, Siddipet 99.72 percent and Nizamabad 98.85 percent.
However, several voters have questioned the accuracy of these figures and alleged that some BLOs submitted inflated distribution reports without completing door to door visits.
Poor Monitoring Draws Widespread Criticism
The Election Commission initially planned to complete the distribution of forms within the first week of the SIR exercise. It intended to collect the completed forms during the remaining three weeks. However, that schedule has not been achieved.
As a result, many voters have started downloading and submitting the forms online after learning about the process independently. Others have contacted BLOs directly to obtain the forms.
Political parties have also raised concerns over the functioning of BLOs and election officials. They alleged that inadequate supervision has affected the revision exercise and warned that complaints may increase if the process does not improve.
Telangana voter list revision | Deadline Approaching Amid Delays
The last date to submit completed enumeration forms is July 24. However, many voters say they have not even received the forms, raising concerns about how they can complete the process before the deadline.
Several BLOs reportedly cited locked houses or the absence of residents as reasons for not delivering forms. Voters, however, alleged that many BLOs were distributing forms from fixed locations instead of conducting house to house visits as directed by the Election Commission.
Concerns have also emerged over the appointment of inexperienced BLOs, particularly in urban areas. Critics argue that inadequate training has affected the implementation of the voter list revision process and created confusion among the public.
