Amaravathi, July 10: Fresh concerns over COVID-19 have emerged in Andhra Pradesh after two people with coronavirus-like symptoms died in Kadapa district, while five others tested positive for the virus in recent RT-PCR tests.
According to reports, the deceased were residents of Kadapa city and Rajampet. Both reportedly died while undergoing treatment after developing COVID-like symptoms, prompting the Health Department to step up surveillance in the district.
Following the deaths, medical officials deployed special teams to the affected areas in Kadapa and Rajampet. The teams are collecting details of the deceased’s family members and primary contacts as part of contact tracing.
Officials are also conducting door-to-door surveys to identify residents suffering from fever, cough, or other respiratory symptoms to prevent any possible spread of the infection.
To determine the exact cause of death, samples from the deceased have been collected and sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, for detailed analysis.
The laboratory findings are expected to confirm whether the deaths were linked to COVID-19 or any other respiratory illness.
Despite the reported deaths and positive cases, the Andhra Pradesh Medical and Health Department has not yet issued an official statement confirming a COVID-19 outbreak in Kadapa district.
Health authorities are continuing surveillance and monitoring the situation closely while awaiting the NIV test results.
