Hyderabad, July 10: A joint operation by the Rajendranagar Special Operations Team (SOT) and Attapur Police led to the arrest of five persons allegedly involved in drug trafficking in Hyderabad. Two other suspects are absconding, police said.
The raid was carried out as part of the city police’s ongoing drive against narcotics trafficking and illegal drug distribution.
During the operation, police seized:
- MDMA drugs
- Illicit injections
- Tablets
- One knife
- Five mobile phones
- ₹16,930 in cash
The seized material has been taken into custody as part of the investigation.
According to the preliminary investigation, the accused allegedly procured drugs from the Darul Shifa area at lower prices and transported them to Attapur, where they were sold at higher rates.
Police said an auto-rickshaw driver, Syed Abul Hasan, allegedly played a key role in supplying drugs to customers.
The arrested accused have been identified as:
- Syed Abul Hasan
- Saif Ali Mirza
- Ahmed Hussain
- Sheikh Ayub
- Mir Shabbir Ali
Two other suspects, identified as Bakar and Mujahid, are currently absconding. Police have formed special teams to trace and arrest them.
Investigators said Syed Abul Hasan has a criminal history, with multiple cases previously registered against him at different police stations, including offences related to theft, robbery and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The Attapur police have registered a case and are continuing the investigation to identify other persons allegedly connected to the drug distribution network.
