Chikkaballapur, July 12: Two Pakistani nationals were arrested after authorities found they had obtained a ration card and voter identity card by hiding their nationality.
Chikkaballapur Police said they arrested Farah Naz and her son Mohammed Fardeen following an inquiry. Officials found they had secured a ration card and voter ID by suppressing nationality facts.
The Deputy Commissioner cancelled the ration card after verifying records. The competent authority also cancelled the voter identity card.
The inquiry found that Farah Naz married Mohammed Ayub Khan in the UAE. Khan is a native of Bagepalli and an Indian national. The couple has four children.
Officials said Mohammed Fardeen was born in Pakistan and is a Pakistani national. The other three children are Indian nationals. The family currently resides in Bagepalli.
Authorities registered a criminal case after a complaint from the Tahsildar of Bagepalli. Police booked the two under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Foreigners Act, and the Representation of the People Act. Both accused remain in custody. Further investigation is in progress, the Superintendent of Police Kushal Chouksey said.
