Hyderabad, July 12: BJP state president Ramachandra Rao urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to set politics aside and restore Kaleshwaram water supplies immediately.
Rao wrote that the Congress government failed to revive Kaleshwaram and left barrage restoration to chance. He said farmers suffer because authorities delayed implementing NDSA recommendations. He added that the government is misleading people by withholding the NDSA report.
Rao said water could be lifted via the Kannepalli pump house without storing it in Medigadda. He argued that timely renovation of Annaram and Sundilla could have irrigated 20 to 25 lakh acres and provided 10 TMC of drinking water to Hyderabad. He claimed nearly 200 TMC of Godavari water remains unused due to inaction.
Rao blamed the NDSA committee for shirking responsibility, but he noted restoration ultimately rests with the state. He asked why the Vigilance Commission and Justice P C Ghosh reports remain undisclosed. He urged the chief minister to revive Kaleshwaram beyond politics and make Godavari water available to people.
