Rajendranagar Traffic Awareness Programme Trains School Bus Drivers And Ayahs On Student Safety

Hyderabad, July 14 (Maxim News): The Rajendranagar Traffic Awareness Programme trained 50 school bus drivers and ayahs (vehicle assistants) on road safety, traffic rules, and student protection during a special awareness session held at Sri Vidyaranya International School in Bandlaguda on Tuesday.

The programme aimed to strengthen safe school transportation by improving the knowledge and driving practices of school transport staff.

The initiative was organised by the Rajendranagar Traffic Police Station in coordination with the Traffic Training Institute (TTI), Goshamahal. Officials focused on equipping school transport personnel with practical knowledge to reduce road accidents and ensure the safety of children while travelling to and from school.

During the session, traffic officials explained the importance of understanding road signs, traffic signals, and lane markings.

Participants learned the difference between mandatory, warning, and informative traffic signs and how these signs help maintain orderly and safe traffic movement.

Officials also highlighted safe driving practices, including the correct use of rear view mirrors, maintaining safe distances, and following proper overtaking procedures.

Drivers received guidance on making careful observations before changing lanes or overtaking other vehicles to minimise the risk of accidents.

A major focus of the Rajendranagar Traffic Awareness Programme was student safety. Traffic personnel instructed drivers and ayahs to follow strict precautions while students board and deboard school buses.

They also explained the responsibilities of vehicle assistants in supervising children, ensuring safe entry and exit, and preventing unsafe situations near school buses.

In addition, the programme covered the safe navigation of roundabouts and busy intersections. Officials demonstrated the correct method of negotiating rotaries and emphasised disciplined driving at junctions to improve traffic flow and reduce collisions.

The awareness session also educated participants about common traffic violations, applicable legal provisions, and the consequences of breaking traffic rules.

Officials encouraged drivers to follow traffic regulations consistently and maintain responsible driving behaviour while transporting school children.

The event was attended by Sri Venu Gopal, Head Constable, Traffic Training Institute, Goshamahal, Smt. Ramaviswanadhan, Principal of Sri Vidyaranya International School, and other traffic police personnel.
