He said the state’s ambitious resurvey initiative is a crucial step towards building a land dispute free Telangana by ensuring clear land boundaries, accurate ownership records and modern digital land management.

Reviewing the progress of the resurvey programme with revenue and survey officials at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the minister said the government is committed to providing a permanent solution to long pending land disputes while assigning a unique Bhoodhar number to every survey number across the state.

Ponguleti said the first phase of the Telangana Land Resurvey is underway in 2,240 villages, with 70 villages selected from each district. He instructed officials to organize Gram Sabhas in every village to create awareness about the programme and explain its benefits to farmers, landowners and local residents.

He stressed that public participation is essential for the success of the exercise and directed officials to remain available in survey villages to resolve doubts and grievances immediately. Every stage of the boundary identification process, he said, should be transparent and carried out in the presence of landowners.

The minister instructed district collectors to personally supervise the resurvey and conduct weekly progress reviews. Revenue and Survey Department officials were asked to work in close coordination and immediately bring any major issues to the government’s notice.

Ponguleti said land is not merely an asset but the primary source of livelihood for thousands of farming families. He noted that the government has adopted advanced technologies, including DGPS, Rover Survey Systems and GIS mapping, to scientifically determine land boundaries with greater precision.

He said that after the resurvey is completed, every survey number will receive a unique Bhoodhar number, which will be integrated into the Bhu Bharati Portal. This digital integration will provide permanent clarity on land ownership while making land registrations, mutations and other revenue services faster, more transparent and legally robust.

The minister also reviewed the progress of surveys in 373 villages that do not have cadastral maps (Naksha). He directed officials to complete surveys in these villages on priority and ensure that pattadars receive advance notices before survey teams visit.

He further instructed officials to identify and mark all government lands and finalize village boundary limits before beginning the resurvey process. This, he said, would help prevent future ownership disputes and improve the accuracy of land records.

Ponguleti emphasized that officials should implement the programme with a people first approach, ensuring that farmers and landowners face no inconvenience during the exercise. He said the resurvey should not be treated as a routine administrative task but as a major public service that will benefit future generations.
