CRPF DG Urges Personnel To Perform Duties Fearlessly Amid Protest Row

Hyderabad, July 30: CRPF Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh on Thursday asked personnel to perform their duties fearlessly and assured them that he would take full responsibility for every lawful decision taken in the line of duty. His remarks come amid a political debate over the use of pellet guns during recent protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

Speaking at a CRPF medal presentation ceremony, Singh said personnel should carry out their responsibilities without fear while acting within the law.

“As the Director General of CRPF, I assure you that whether it is an operational battalion or a law and order unit, I will take full responsibility for every decision and action you take impartially in the discharge of your duties,” he said.

The statement comes after protests organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar on July 20 over the alleged NEET paper leak. The demonstration turned tense after security forces intervened to control the gathering.

According to the source material, three protesters sustained serious injuries after the Rapid Action Force (RAF), a specialised unit of the CRPF, allegedly used pellet guns during the protest.

The incident triggered criticism from opposition parties and rights groups, leading to scrutiny of the RAF’s handling of the demonstration. Singh’s remarks are being viewed in the context of the ongoing debate over the force’s actions during the protest.
