Hyderabad, August 2: The two day Threads of Hope Bazaar, a special initiative aimed at helping artisans affected by the fire at Delhi’s Dastkar Nature Bazaar, was inaugurated on Friday at the Crafts Council of Telangana in Banjara Hills. The event brings together 26 artisan groups and creative enterprises from across India to help rebuild livelihoods through direct sales.
Threads of Hope Bazaar Showcases India’s Craft Heritage
The bazaar was inaugurated by television presenter, actress and producer Jhansi Laxmi, along with members of the Crafts Council of Telangana (CCT), designers, craft revivalists and supporters of India’s handmade traditions.
Addressing the gathering, Jhansi Laxmi said every handcrafted product reflects the story of an artisan. She urged visitors to support the initiative, noting that every purchase would help affected artisan families recover from the losses caused by the devastating fire.
Organised by the Crafts Council of Telangana, the exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and concludes on Saturday at the CCT premises in MLA Colony, Road No. 12, Banjara Hills.
The event features 26 artisan groups representing craft traditions from Kashmir, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Rajasthan, West Bengal and several other states.
Among the exhibitors are Floral Doodle Handloom from Uttar Pradesh, SA Carpet Rugs from Mirzapur, Bare Hands Crafted, Bespoke by Saurabh, Rida Kaari Studio, Sandur Kushala Kala Kendra, Kirgiti, Bent Handcrafts from Assam, Naie Kiran from Kashmir and Afghan Handcrafts, showcasing a wide variety of traditional and contemporary handmade products.
Visitors can explore handcrafted silk carpets, rugs, Banarasi handloom sarees, Ajrakh and Bagru block prints, Chikankari garments, Pashmina shawls, bamboo and cane handicrafts, papier mâché products, tribal jewellery, Kantha and Lambani embroidery, sustainable hemp clothing, handcrafted home décor and upcycled lifestyle products.
The Crafts Council of Telangana said the bazaar was conceived as a platform of resilience following the fire at Delhi’s Dastkar Nature Bazaar, which destroyed stalls, inventories and years of artisans’ work, leaving many families facing financial hardship.
By connecting artisans directly with buyers, the initiative aims to generate immediate income while promoting India’s rich craft heritage and encouraging sustainable, artisan led enterprises.
