Hyderabad, August 9: The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education has imposed penalties on private junior colleges for multiple rule violations.
The latest action targets 45 colleges accused of submitting forged Fire NOCs during the 2026 to 27 affiliation process.
The Board imposed a fine of Rs 8 lakh on each of the 45 colleges. This amounts to Rs 3.6 crore in penalties from this action alone.
The colleges reportedly submitted Fire NOCs in the name of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency. Authorities later found the documents to be forged.
The issue came to light after a complaint reached HYDRAA over an alleged fake Fire NOC submitted by a private junior college.
Police have registered cases against the managements concerned. Further action will depend on the ongoing investigations.
Board finds more violations during inspections
Meanwhile, TG BIE has also penalised more than 95 other private junior colleges. The penalties range from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, depending on the violations.
Board task force teams conducted inspections across private junior colleges. During these checks, officials found several institutions violating prescribed affiliation norms.
Some colleges allegedly admitted students without proper authorisation. Others lacked the required teaching staff, laboratories or library facilities.
These facilities form part of the requirements for obtaining affiliation from the Intermediate Education Board. Therefore, colleges must meet the prescribed standards to continue operating under the Board.
TG BIE has decided to continue inspections through its task force teams. The inspections will focus on compliance with affiliation and academic requirements.
The Board has also withheld affiliation for colleges that failed to clear penalties imposed earlier.
The latest action comes as Telangana authorities step up scrutiny of private junior colleges. The Board’s inspections are aimed at enforcing affiliation rules and checking compliance with prescribed standards.
Colleges seeking affiliation for the academic year must therefore meet the required norms and submit valid documents. Institutions that fail to comply may face penalties or loss of affiliation.
