Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug 17 (Maxim News): The Union Ministry of Education has taken a key decision after a series of developments such as the NEET UG-2026 paper leak, flaws in the UGC NET exam, cancellation of exams. NTA has taken steps towards cleansing. It has initiated major changes in the National Testing Agency. As part of this, central government sources say that more than 50 staff have been removed. It is reported that the NTA intends to create 10 new professional posts and make appointments in their place.
In this context, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi met with Higher Education Secretary Deepti Gaur Mukherjee, NTA Director General Abhishek Singh and other senior officials. In this meeting, the NTA explained to the Union Minister about the steps taken to reform its comprehensive examination system.
Officials told the Union Minister that over 50 NTA staff have been dismissed and 10 new professional key posts have been advertised and recruitment is being made. These will include posts like Chief Technology Officer, Chief Finance Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, General Manager of Test Security, General Manager of Research and Development and Psychometrics. It is reported that NTA will also hire domain experts from the private sector for cyber-security, psychometrics, question paper design and other specialized areas.
Comprehensive purge in exam security..
The Union Education Minister has directed the NTA to ensure strict adherence to the prescribed examination norms and to thoroughly clean up the Confidential Operations (CONOPS) structure. The NTA has been asked to conduct a comprehensive audit of all examination processes and submit a report on the corrective actions taken. The Union Minister directed the officials to work towards strengthening the systems at various stages of the examination administration and preventing errors at the source.
New problem with UGC-NET re-examination..
Complaints were received from many people regarding errors in English, Commerce, and Sociology subjects. Immediately, the NTA formed a committee. This committee found many factual, typographical, and translation errors in the three papers. The committee found that these included misspellings of names of prominent scholars, unclear book titles, errors in question wording, grammatical and punctuation errors, and non-standard words. The committee also found that a significant number of questions were repeated from previous exams. In this context, it recommended that the exams for the three papers be re-conducted for a fair and error-free examination. The NTA announced that the exams for the English, Commerce, and Sociology papers would be re-conducted on the recommendation of the committee.
No need to pay the fee again.
The NTA has announced that the re-examination of the English and Commerce papers will be conducted on September 9 and the Sociology paper on September 10. It has been clarified that candidates will not have to pay any additional examination fee for this. (Maxim News)
