Hyderabad, August 20: BJP MP Laxman on Thursday demanded Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s resignation over the Telangana 22A prohibited lands issue.
Laxman accused the Congress government of failing to protect private properties. He also demanded a CBI inquiry into alleged irregularities involving 22A lands.
He alleged that officials were being blamed instead of those responsible for placing properties on the prohibited list.
Laxman Seeks Probe Into 22A Land Listings
Laxman said people were worried that their properties could suddenly be added to the 22A prohibited list. He also alleged that land settlements and rackets were emerging in Telangana.
He criticised Ponguleti for apologising over the issue. According to Laxman, the minister should disclose who ordered the disputed land listings.
The BJP MP also demanded that the complete 22A list be made public. He urged Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge to intervene.
Laxman claimed that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s property had also appeared on the prohibited list. He said ordinary people should not face similar problems with their properties.
He further alleged that the Congress government was treating land issues like a real estate business. However, these allegations were made by Laxman and were not independently established.
Laxman recalled Revanth Reddy’s criticism of the previous BRS government over prohibited lands. He also claimed that the extent of land under the 22A list had increased substantially under the Congress government.
He said the BJP would continue its fight on behalf of affected property owners. He also sought action against those who ordered the disputed listings.
