US India Trade Ties: Envoy Hosts Hyderabad Roundtable

Hyderabad, August 25: US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor hosted a high level business roundtable at Taj Falaknuma Palace to strengthen trade and industrial ties with India.

US Consul General Laura Williams also attended the meeting. The event brought senior Indian business leaders together with US officials in Hyderabad.

The discussions focused on bilateral trade, high technology supply chains and new commercial opportunities. Leaders from defense manufacturing, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals and technology took part in the meeting.

The dinner also marked the 250th anniversary of US independence. It highlighted the growing focus on deeper commercial cooperation between the two countries.

US seeks stronger business ties across South India

Ambassador Gor said the US India relationship has moved beyond strategic cooperation. He said business partnerships now support cooperation in several critical sectors.

He pointed to defense, technology, life sciences and space as key areas. He also highlighted the role of long standing business ties between companies in both countries.

The ambassador urged companies in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha to use existing policy frameworks. He identified the TRUST Initiative, Pax Silica and the US India COMPACT as key platforms.

He also highlighted the US India Strategic Mineral Recovery Initiative. These frameworks could support investment, supply chain partnerships and wider market access.

The meeting also focused on strengthening defense industrial cooperation. The two sides discussed opportunities for greater co production and deeper industrial partnerships.

Semiconductors and high technology supply chains formed another key area of discussion. India and the US have sought stronger supply chain links in strategic industries.

Pharmaceuticals and life sciences also remain important sectors for bilateral business ties. Hyderabad, with its established technology and life sciences base, remains a significant business hub.

The roundtable sought to connect strategic policy goals with commercial opportunities. Business leaders discussed ways to translate bilateral initiatives into investment and industrial partnerships.
