Kavitha Ties Mangalsutra for Bride in Mudiraj Tradition

Hyderabad, August 26: Kalvakuntla Kavitha participated in a wedding ceremony as the bridegroom’s family member and performed key rituals under Mudiraj tradition.

The Telangana Jagruthi leader attended the wedding of Telangana Rakshana Sena leader Bashaboyin Balaprasad and Shivani. The ceremony took place at Aradhya Convention near ECIL Keesara Cross Road.

Balaprasad belongs to Guduru village in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. Shivani belongs to Sita Phalmandi. The couple had fixed their wedding for Wednesday morning.

Balaprasad reportedly wanted Kalvakuntla Kavitha to perform the wedding rituals as his family’s daughter. He also wanted her to take part in the traditional ceremony involving the bride.

Accordingly, Kalvakuntla Kavitha accepted his request and participated in the wedding as an honorary member of the family. She followed the Mudiraj customs during the ceremony.

Kavitha Performs Traditional Wedding Rituals

Under the Mudiraj tradition described by the family, the bridegroom’s sister or another female member of the family performs a ritual before the groom ties the mangalsutra.

As part of the ceremony, Kalvakuntla Kavitha participated in the Gowri Puja. She then tied three knots around Shivani’s neck using a turmeric thread.

She also placed the engagement ring on the bride’s finger. Later, she performed the Odi Biyyam ritual and blessed the bride.

After these rituals, Balaprasad tied the mangalsutra around Shivani’s neck and completed the marriage ceremony.

Balaprasad had earlier worked actively with Telangana Jagruthi, according to the information provided by the family. He later became associated with the Telangana Rakshana Sena.

The wedding was attended by Balaprasad’s parents Swarupa and Balakrishna. His brother Nagaraju and several Telangana Rakshana Sena leaders also participated in the ceremony.

The family said Balaprasad did not have sisters and therefore wanted Kalvakuntla Kavitha to take the role of a family sister during his wedding.

Her participation added a distinctive element to the ceremony while allowing the family to follow its traditional customs. The event also highlighted the importance families place on customary roles during marriage ceremonies.

The wedding concluded with the traditional rituals and blessings for the newly married couple.
