Hyderabad, August 27: Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh reviewed the safety of AP pilgrims stranded in Nepal floods.
AP Delhi Bhavan officials briefed Lokesh about seven pilgrims caught in the floods. Four pilgrims remain safe, while officials have not located three others.
The missing pilgrims include Bala Subramanyam from Kuppam. Shashikumar and Rajyalakshmi, associated with the Isha Foundation group, also remain untraced.
Lokesh directed officials to maintain constant contact with the Centre. He also asked them to coordinate with agencies working in Nepal and China.
Officials said Shashikumar was last seen near the Gyirong Embassy in China. Authorities are continuing efforts to establish his current location.
Meanwhile, officials confirmed that four other AP pilgrims remain safe. They include Bhaskar Shastri from Kurnool district.
The group had travelled for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra before getting caught in the floods. Officials are taking steps to move the safe pilgrims to secure locations.
Nepal Floods Prompt Coordination Over Pilgrim Safety
Lokesh directed officials to maintain regular contact with the Indian Embassy. He also asked them to coordinate with the Chinese and Nepalese embassies.
Officials will also remain in touch with the Gyirong Immigration Centre. The Isha Foundation will also assist authorities in tracing the missing pilgrims.
RTGS officials are collecting information about AP residents affected by the Nepal floods. They are also monitoring the status of pilgrims travelling for the Mansarovar Yatra.
Following Lokesh’s directions, IT Secretary Katamneni Bhaskar is supervising the situation from the RTGS centre.
Authorities are focusing on tracing the three missing pilgrims. At the same time, officials are working to evacuate those who remain safe.
The state government continues to coordinate with central and foreign agencies. Further information will emerge as authorities verify the whereabouts of the missing pilgrims.
