Hyderabad, August 31: Pahadishareef Police have arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with the alleged murder and sexual assault of a 21-year-old woman at Thukkuguda in Ranga Reddy district. Police said the accused, MD Sanaullah, was apprehended within 30 hours of receiving the complaint.
The case was registered as Crime No. 554/2026 under Sections 103(1), 64(1) and 332(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 3(ii)(V) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
Pahadishareef Police: Woman Found Dead in Residential Room
According to police, the victim had come to Hyderabad with her friend and was working as a nurse at a private hospital in Thukkuguda. She was staying in the residential rooms provided at the hospital.
On August 29, the victim’s friend informed her aunt that the woman had not come out of her room since morning and was not responding to repeated knocks.
The room was subsequently accessed through a window, where the woman was found unresponsive with injuries. She was declared dead, following which the family approached Pahadishareef Police and lodged a complaint.
Accused Allegedly Entered Room Through Window
Police identified the accused as MD Sanaullah, 34, a bike mechanic originally from Begusarai district in Bihar. He had been working and residing at a mechanic shop near the Srisailam Highway in Thukkuguda.
During the investigation, police said they developed technical evidence and other information that allegedly linked Sanaullah to the crime.
According to the police investigation, the accused had allegedly noticed the woman through a rear-side window of the mechanic shop and had been observing her movements. Police allege that he subsequently entered her room through a window during the intervening night of August 28 and 29.
The police said the woman resisted the alleged assault and that a struggle took place. The accused allegedly assaulted and strangulated her before fleeing the scene.
Technical Evidence Helps Police Trace Accused
Pahadishareef Police and the Shamshabad Zonal Task Force worked on the case using technical and other investigative inputs. The accused was apprehended on the evening of August 30.
Police said the investigation is still underway and that scientific, technical and other corroborative evidence is being collected and analysed in accordance with the law.
A Samsung mobile phone and clothes belonging to the accused were seized during the investigation.
The accused was arrested under the supervision of Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, and under the direction of DCP Shamshabad Zone B. Rajesh and ACP RGIA Division V. Srikanth Goud.
The operation was carried out by Pahadishareef Inspector B. Lakshmi Narayana Reddy and his team, along with personnel from the Shamshabad Zonal Task Force.
Police said further investigation is in progress.
