Hyderabad, Sept. 2 (Maxim News): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged the Centre to speed up work on the Adilabad and Mamnoor airports. He made the request during a meeting with Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu in New Delhi.
The meeting took place at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, the Ministry of Civil Aviation office. Revanth Reddy said Telangana had completed the required land acquisition for Mamnoor Airport.
The Chief Minister also sought passenger and cargo facilities at Adilabad Airport. He asked the Centre to include a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility at the airport.
Moreover, he requested a joint meeting between the Defence and Civil Aviation ministries. The meeting would help finalise the runway requirements for the Adilabad airport.
Mamnoor Airport tenders expected within two weeks
Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said the Centre would invite tenders for the Warangal airport within two weeks. He also said the government would finalise the tenders by December.
According to the minister, construction work would begin after the tender process. He said the Centre would lay the foundation stone for the project in December.
Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy urged the Centre to promote heli tourism in Telangana. He said helicopter services could create new opportunities for the state’s tourism sector.
The Chief Minister also discussed a proposed seaplane service at Hussain Sagar. Civil Aviation officials said they would submit a report on the seaplane landing proposal to the Telangana government within two weeks.
The proposed aviation projects could improve regional connectivity and support tourism and commercial activity. However, their progress will depend on clearances, tender processes and infrastructure work.
MPs A.K. Yadav and Suresh Shetkar attended the meeting. Telangana government adviser for protocol Harkara Rao also participated.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju and Chief Minister’s Secretary Manik Raj were among the officials present. Other senior officials from the state government and the Civil Aviation Ministry also attended the meeting.
