Hyderabad, 3rd September 2026: An auto-rickshaw driver was allegedly murdered in Hyderabad late on Wednesday night, less than 24 hours after another killing in the same police zone.
The victim was identified as Abdul Rauf, a resident of Jahangirabad. According to police, the incident occurred around 11:30 pm.
Rajendranagar DCP Srinivas said eyewitnesses reported that two to three persons attacked Rauf. Police have formed a special team to identify and apprehend the suspects.
Investigators are probing the circumstances surrounding the killing and are working to establish the motive behind the attack.
Rauf’s wife said he had left home for his routine work as an auto-rickshaw driver. She alleged that he was called out before being attacked and appealed to police to identify those responsible.
Second Murder Reported in Rajendranagar Zone
The family has also named two persons in connection with the incident. However, police said their alleged involvement has not been established and the investigation is continuing.
DCP Srinivas said police would intensify action against late-night illegal activities and substance abuse. Enforcement measures under Operation Chabutra will also continue across the Old City.
The latest killing follows the murder of a rowdy sheeter, Haji Sohel, in Mailardevpally early Wednesday.
According to police, a Dial-100 call was received around 6 am reporting that a man was lying injured in the area. A patrol team rushed to the spot and found Sohel dead with multiple injuries.
Police are investigating both incidents and examining whether there is any connection between the two killings.
