Hyderabad, 3rd September, 2026: The death toll from devastating flash floods in Nepal has risen to 1,222, while 4,875 people remain missing, according to Nepal Police.
The toll increased after security forces recovered more bodies from eight flood-affected districts. The floods devastated several towns and villages across the country a week ago.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, security forces recovered 348 bodies in Chitawan, 218 in Nawalparasi East, 208 in Nawalparasi West and 155 in Nuwakot.
Similarly, authorities recovered 127 bodies in Rasuwa, 69 in Gorkha, 60 in Dhading and 38 in Tanahu.
Nepal Flash Flood Rescue Operations Continue
Among those reported missing, 583 are foreigners, according to the latest figures. Meanwhile, joint teams of the Nepal Army and other security forces have rescued 11,993 people using helicopters and land routes.
Around 21,314 security personnel have been deployed for search and rescue operations across the affected areas.
The disaster has also caused significant casualties across the Nepal-China border. In Gyirong county of Tibet, near the Nepal border, the death toll from the flash flood has risen to 21, while 541 people remain missing.
Search and rescue teams continue to recover bodies and look for survivors as authorities assess the scale of the devastation caused by the floods.
