Suryapet, Sept. 6: A woman allegedly attempted suicide in Suryapet district after a Congress leader threatened to share her nude photos on social media.
The woman, from Bakkamanthulagudem in Mathampally mandal, accused Congress leader Chinta Reddy Vijayabhaskar Reddy of harassment.
According to her complaint, the accused allegedly entered her house when she was alone and took nude photos. She further alleged that he sent obscene messages through WhatsApp.
The woman also alleged that the Congress leader threatened to post her photos on social media.
Woman Alleges Police Pressure to Withdraw Complaint
The woman reportedly approached the police over the alleged harassment. However, she claimed that officials were reluctant to act because the accused was linked to the ruling party.
She further alleged that police officials pressured her to compromise with the accused and withdraw her complaint.
The woman, reportedly distressed by the alleged harassment and pressure, later attempted suicide.
Sources close to the woman also alleged that Vijayabhaskar Reddy had harassed six other women in a similar manner. These allegations have not been independently verified.
Police have not yet publicly established the allegations against the accused. Further details of the case are awaited.
