Telangana Assembly to debate Speaker remarks

Congress leaders have argued that criticism of the Speaker’s post in such a manner is unacceptable. They said such remarks could amount to a breach of the Assembly’s decorum.

The Congress is expected to raise the issue during Tuesday’s proceedings. Party leaders are likely to take a firm position against Tata Madhu over the reported remarks.

Meanwhile, the second day of the Telangana Assembly session will begin with the Question Hour. Members are expected to raise questions on various issues during the scheduled proceedings.

The developments around the Speaker could add to the political tension inside the House. However, the Assembly’s response will depend on how members raise the matter and how the Speaker conducts the proceedings.

The issue has also drawn attention because remarks against the presiding officer can become a matter of House discipline and decorum. Congress leaders have therefore indicated that they want the matter addressed during the session.
