Hyderabad, Sept. 8 (Maxim News): The second day of the Telangana Assembly session began on a heated note on Tuesday, with the ruling Congress and opposition BRS engaging in a war of words over incidents that occurred outside the House on the first day.
BRS MLA T. Harish Rao raised the issue of remarks made against Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar and said BRS MLC Tata Madhu had already expressed regret over his comments. Harish Rao questioned why Tata Madhu was arrested despite his apology.
Harish Rao also strongly reacted to the alleged incidents involving women legislators, including claims that Sunitha Lakshma Reddy’s saree was pulled and that Sabitha Indra Reddy was grabbed by neck.
He questioned whether action would be taken against those responsible for the incidents and demanded accountability.
Speaker responds to Harish Rao’s allegations
Responding to Harish Rao, Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar said an inquiry into the incidents was underway and assured the House that action would be taken after the report was received.
The Speaker said he had respect for all women legislators, both as members of the Assembly and personally.
He also questioned Harish Rao over remarks allegedly made against him and asked why the BRS leader was becoming emotional over the issue.
The Speaker said his mother had allegedly been insulted, and questioned Harish Rao over the remarks.
“Answer me, Harish Rao, on the remarks made against my mother,” the Speaker said while responding to the opposition leader.
The exchange led to a heated argument between members of the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS.
As the verbal clash intensified, the Assembly was adjourned for 15 minutes.
