Hyderabad, Sept. 8: BRS working president KT Rama Rao and BRS Legislature Party deputy leader T Harish Rao on Tuesday condemned the arrests of party MLCs Thatha Madhu and B Naveen Kumar Reddy.
They accused the Congress government of using police action and cases to suppress the Opposition.
Rama Rao said the Congress government had failed to implement its six guarantees and 420 promises. He alleged that arrests and detentions were among its main achievements in 1,000 days.
“If the promises are implemented, all BRS MLCs and MLAs will come and voluntarily get arrested. We are ready, are you ready?” he challenged.
BRS Leaders Question Action Against MLCs
Rama Rao also questioned the government over the alleged treatment of BRS women legislators at the Assembly gate on Monday.
He demanded details of action against those accused of pulling the sarees of senior MLAs P Sabitha Indra Reddy and V Sunitha Laxma Reddy.
He also alleged that the women legislators were held by their necks and assaulted during the incident.
Rama Rao claimed Madhu and Naveen were arrested in false cases despite the High Court’s observations on Monday. He accused the government of using diversion politics and said people were watching its actions.
Rama Rao also criticised Congress Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi over the issue. He questioned the difference between Gandhi’s conduct in Parliament and the treatment of BRS leaders in the Telangana Assembly.
Harish Rao alleged that police acted on the directions of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy during Monday’s confrontation at the Assembly gate.
He claimed police attacked BRS legislators and prevented them from entering the Assembly. He condemned the arrests of Madhu and Naveen and questioned the cases filed against them.
Harish Rao also referred to the High Court’s observations while criticising the government’s action against the two MLCs. (Maxim News)
