Ganesh Immersion Preparations Reviewed At Hyderabad Coordination Meet

Hyderabad, Sept. 9: Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar chaired an inter department coordination meeting on Wednesday to review Ganesh festival and immersion arrangements.

The meeting was held at Visvesvaraya Bhavan in Khairatabad. Officials discussed measures for the peaceful and smooth conduct of the festival and immersion procession.

Senior officials from Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri and Future City commissionerates attended the meeting.

Representatives from GHMC, HYDRAA, TSRTC, Fire Services, Transport, Health, HMDA, Metro Rail, MMTS and other departments also participated.

Ganesh Immersion Preparations Get Inter Department Push

Sajjanar directed all departments to work together and take preventive measures based on experiences from the past five years.

He instructed officials to remove loose electricity, cable and internet wires along procession routes. Officials must also ensure adequate height clearance for vehicles and idols.

The Commissioner directed officials to provide safe electricity connections to Ganesh mandaps. He stressed the need for proper earthing and approvals from the Electrical Inspectorate.

Electricity officials were asked to maintain regular communication with police. They must also inform local police before power shutdowns or wire clearance works.

Officials were directed to complete ongoing road, nala and slab works along major procession routes before September 14 or 15.

No new road digging, drilling or cable laying works should begin until the immersion process is completed.

Officials also discussed power pole shifting amid Metro construction works in the Old City.

The Health Department was asked to establish 26 special medical camps across Hyderabad district. Dedicated camps will also be arranged in Balapur with ambulances and round the clock paramedical staff.

GHMC and HMWS&SB officials were asked to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply and sanitation during the festival.

Officials also discussed parking holding areas to manage traffic and vehicle movement. TSRTC and Transport Department officials were asked to arrange sufficient buses, goods vehicles and drivers.

Police also sought shift wise details of static and mobile cranes. The lists must include operators, supervisors and maintenance teams.

Officials were asked to publicise important announcements through television tickers and press notifications. These include queue closing times at major idols such as Bada Ganesh.

Special public transport arrangements are also planned for the final immersion day on September 25.

Metro Rail services are expected to operate until 1 am on the final immersion day. Overnight MMTS services will also connect key stations including Nampally, Lakdi ka pul, Khairatabad, Sanjeevaiah Park, James Street and Begumpet.
