Internet/Hyderabad, Sept 14 (Maxim News): Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials have seized 362 metric tonnes of dried dates illegally imported into India from Pakistan in Nashik. These were imported by a Mumbai-based company. The officials seized these dried dates after receiving information about the illegal trafficking.
The authorities have come to the preliminary conclusion that some Pakistani nationals created false documents to hide the fact that the dried dates were produced in their country. It was found that the documents were created as if the dates were from the UAE and sent to India. DRI officials concluded that they were first transported from Pakistan to the Jebel Ali port in the UAE and from there they were transported to India on another ship.
It is known that India has imposed a ban on imports from Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack. However, attempts are being made to smuggle Pakistani goods into India through illegal channels. To check this, the DRI is conducting a special operation called Operation Deep Manifest. It is regularly identifying and seizing imports coming from Pakistan via other countries. (Maxim News)
