Khan’s remarks came amid social media trolling faced by actress Katrina Kaif over her post-pregnancy appearance. However, the actor did not name Katrina directly while addressing the issue.
Khan questioned why people target women after pregnancy and said weight gain is a natural part of the process. He also suggested that actresses can regain fitness when they return to films.
His comments followed criticism directed at Katrina after she attended the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai with her husband Vicky Kaushal. Some social media users commented on her appearance and weight, prompting others to push back against the trolling.
Salman Khan Calls Out Online Body-Shaming
During the episode, Khan also spoke about the trolling he has faced over his own age and appearance. The actor, who recently turned 60, questioned why celebrities are targeted over their weight, looks, age and personal lives.
Khan removed his hat, jacket and shirt during the segment while responding to comments about his physique. He challenged trolls to continue commenting on his appearance and urged people to look at themselves before judging others.
He also drew a distinction between criticism of an actor’s work and personal attacks. According to reports, Khan said viewers can dislike a film or performance, but buying a movie ticket does not give anyone the right to personally abuse an actor.
Khan further criticised intrusive paparazzi practices involving women celebrities. His broader remarks focused on the impact of social media trolling and the tendency to turn celebrities’ bodies, families and personal lives into subjects of public commentary.
