Hyderabad, Sept 20 (Maxim News): Hyderabad and several parts of Telangana are likely to witness continued monsoon activity over the next seven days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning of heavy rainfall through September 25.
The latest IMD forecast issued on September 19 indicates heavy rain across Telangana from September 19 to 25. Thunderstorms and lightning are also forecast through September 22.
The weather department has advised residents to remain alert as rain and thunderstorm activity is expected across several districts.
Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain Forecast Across Telangana
According to the IMD Hyderabad forecast, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places in Telangana. Heavy rainfall is expected to continue in different parts of the state during the week.
For Hyderabad, weather conditions are expected to remain unsettled, with spells of rain and thunderstorms possible during the coming days. The IMD’s latest Hyderabad bulletin continues to track rainfall and thunderstorm activity across the city and surrounding districts.
Telangana has also been experiencing a rainfall deficit during the southwest monsoon. According to the figures provided, the state has received 554.2 mm against the normal 688.1 mm, a deficit of 19%.
Hanumakonda recorded the highest deficit at 44%, receiving 426 mm against its normal rainfall of 755.8 mm. Warangal, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jangaon, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Jogulamba Gadwal and Khammam have also recorded deficits of more than 30%.
Hyderabad has received 436.6 mm of rainfall against its normal 568.4 mm.
The forecast comes after several Telangana districts received rain on Saturday. Nagarkurnool recorded the highest rainfall at 139 mm, while Shaikpet in Hyderabad received 31.5 mm, according to the figures provided.
Residents have been advised to plan travel carefully and remain cautious during thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rain spells.
